It's been a while since my last post, and no, I do not regret it! Not even a little! Okay, maybe a little. I've wanted to add stuff, but there has been neither time nor anything worthwhile.

Anyway, on a whim I decided to test out the program paint.net. It's been making waves since it was first released and rightly so. It has everything that made me love the original paint program it was based on (waaaay back in seventh grade) and then took several cues from programs like Photoshop. It is, essentially, paint on steroids. But instead of shriveled 'nads and overwrought muscles, the program turns out to be a thing of absolute beauty.

It is maddeningly user friendly. Everything is easy to use, an incredibly intuitive. Where Photoshop sometimes feels like you need a degree to operate it, Paint.net lets you jump in, play, and come out a seasoned expert on your first foray (though I may be exaggerating a bit). The textures was one of the parts that I truly enjoyed, but the truth of the matter is that pretty much everything was a delightful surprise.

But can it replace Photoshop as my de facto art program? In a word, no. In many words: no because it is a light quick program that has many merits, but just does not allow for all the extra bits that Photoshop lets you do with ease (okay, maybe not ease, but it does let you do it). Anyway, the long and short of it is that it's nice, but not nice enough. I could definitely see myself using it for a certain style, but beyond that?

Anyway, this is what I could whip up quickly and without too much hassle. It reminds me of a cheap Van Gogh imitation and I feel a little bit soiled because of that.
