No news but bad news...sorry

Well, here's a bit of somber news: 190 killed in Madrid bomb blasts (main news around the world right now. You can't have missed it). That's horrible. I mean, when I lived there there wasn't any sort of sick stuff like that happening. Ok, there was the odd ETA (read: Basque separatist) bombings once in a blue moon, but for the most part Spain was a safe place. I actually passed the days in peaceful boredom. Apparently, they blame the Al-Qaeda. You know, the usual suspects. If it really was the Al-Qaeda, I don't really see the point. Do they enjoy being hunted down by everybody? Do they enjoy besmearing the name of Islam (because, like it or not, that's the way people prevalently see Islam: as Terrorists. Actually, that's the way they've seen it for a long time. Only now they have "just cause"). If it wasn't them, then who was it? Now, I am in no way a religious fanatic or zealot or whatever. I just do not condone the slaughtering of innocents...anywhere. Be it Jew or Islam or any other religious sect, I do not believe that blowing up 190 people in the name of your religion or cause is going to help it. And any sort of retalliatory act is just like dousing the fire with kerosene. What's the point of it all? And I was actually hoping that I could visit Spain again over the holidays. Probably not. I just hope that Spain doesn't go the way of America and excercise that extreme paranoia policy (biometric scanning? How cumbersome). Oh, if you didn't figure it out, I am a muslim. I also play video games. I suppose that since those are highly dangerous characteristics for any one person to have, I should now be considered a terrorist. Along with a sizeable chunk of the people I know -_-.

In other news, it appears that Alan Moore's "Watchmen" is due to be made into a movie. Filming is scheduled to begin sometime in 2004. The movie screenplay was apparently done by David Hayter (who, as many of you know, did the screenplays for the last 2 X-Men movies. Me, I know him as Solid Snake...no, not the porn star! The video game character!). I hope they don't butcher it like they did League of Extraordinary Gentlemen (Alan Quatermain as a dashing fighter? Feh, what a gyp. Give me back the opium addict I grew to love!). I also hope that Alan Moore would pull his head outta his arse and think sense for once in his life. A magician? Nobody would want to be a magician if they're one of the greatest living comic scripters in the world!

In other news, The Gay Men Liberation Front (Gaymelif) have started shooting the movie "Watching Men". They were summarily rounded up and shot. (And there you have it, the first peek at Rumoku's psyche. While I don't really have anything against gays in general, I still do not think that it's quite right. I mean, women...just look at them! How could anybody pick a guy over a woman?! While I do not have any qualms against gays I will not shy from making fun of them...or any other denomination of the human populace for that matter. Live with it).

And that's all the news that's fit for the public (and some that isn't).
