Dreaming of Zelda...
Okay, how many of you actually thought that the Zelda I am about to talk about is a real girl? No one? Ok, makes sense considering the type of people that read this. How many people know what Zelda I am gonna talk about? All of you? Bravo! However, since I don't trust any of you to admit that you don't have the foggiest what I'm talking about if I asked you in real life I'll have to give a little background information (just in case you REALLY don't know what I'm talking about...which I doubt). Yes, I'm talking about Zelda the video game franchise, specifically Zelda: Windwaker. My God, just the mention of that game gives me goosebumps. And there is still talk that there may be a sequel (cross fingers, knock on wood). If you still haven't played this video gaming gem, then swing on over to Teddy's place and demand to have a go. Tell him that Azwar sent you. It's okay, it's my gaming system so it's not like you have to pay him or anything.
Anyway, why am I talking about video games when I should be talking about things like the muder of a man on a wheelchair? You know, pertinent stuff. The reason is simple: it depresses me. This world seems to be going to pot and I don't think that anyone really needs me to point it out. But I will say that things like this can't go on forever. Something's gotta give and break down. I just hope that it isn't the world. Anyway, that's why I'm talking about Zelda...it never ceases to make me happy. I think everybody would be a lot happier if they had a couple of hours playing video games every day...or at least once every week. But then, there are people out there who complain that video games make us violent. They also said that about comics. And books. And TV. Heck, they say that about everything that is mildly entertaining (don't play with those marbles, kids. They make you violent because they're round). What those people don't understand is that we are inherently violent and that anybody is capable of violence given the right circumstances. Using video games as a scape goat is just escapism...avoiding the real issues at hand. It could be that your kid was already screwed up before he started playing video games and shooting up his school...but no one ever wants to admit that. So they blame other things and make excuses. Like: that man deserved to die because he is a terrorist. The facts do not change though: an old wheelchair bound man was killed in a missile strike after finishing his prayers. And because of that many more people are going to die. Way to solve a problem, Israel. Great, now I'm depressed....
