Lesson learned...

If you're in a hurry never, under any account, stop to talk to people. It may sound rude, but that's a simple truth. Stuff can happen. I running late to a birthday party (my surrogate nephew's) and I hadn't bought a birthday present yet. Anyway, outside the college gate I see Sana. She's smoking. I'm somewhat taken aback since I never thought she smoked. Anyway, in lieu of saying hi I said "Wow, Sana, I didn't know that you smoked. I'm a little bit disappointed. I thought that you'd be more health concious than that". Yeah, in retrospect I figured that that sort of line is not the best conversation opener around. But I'm stupid when it comes to talking to girls... anyway, that's besides the point: she bursts into tears. I think to myself, 'holy shit!'

Rumoku: Awww, crap. I'm sorry! I was just kidding! Smoking's really...erm...sexy? I'm sorry!
Sana: *Blubber blubber*
Rumoku: I didn't mean it!
Sana: It's *hic* not your fault Rumoku (well, obviously she didn't call me by my nickname, but let's just pretend that she did). I just broke up with my boyfriend. (at this point she breaks down into tears and stuff)
Rumoku: Awwww shit. Erm...I'm sorry to hear that. Ah, are you gonna be alright?
Sana: No, *sniffle* I don't think that I am. He says that he doesn't want to even see me anymore (more crying ensues)
Rumoku: Erm...(awkwardly patting Sana on the back)...there, there...it's all going to be okay. I guess?
Sana: *wail wail, various attempts to stop crying*
Rumoku: Shit...

Anyway, there were more pathetic attempts to soothe her broken heart. Emphasis on pathetic. She then began confiding all sorts of things to me and there I was, stuck. I couldn't very well run off after seeing her cry that much. It would be rude. And to be perfectly honest, I was bloody scared. I mean, there's no telling what a distraught girl might do. The last time I made light of my sister's breakup she almost ripped my balls off.

So I was running extremely late by the time I could finally excuse myself from Sana's company. I rush to the toystore and buy the first cool thing I see and ask for it to be wrapped. I dash off to my sister's sister-in-law's place and hand in the present. Safe! Or so I thought. Come opening present time this is what my sister says when she sees the present:

Sister: you bought him a slingshot?! How could you be so irresponsible?! He's going to break so many things! If he breaks anything I'll kill you!

Rumoku: ...shit...

And all because I had to be nice and say something when I was in a hurry. When shall I ever learn?

Rumoku out
