Rubberneckin' and the Endless Geekdom...
Ah, Friday! The salve to all of your soul's wounds! I had only one class today but the day felt twice as long. Those sort of things are normal when you hate that class. It's like a cancer to my very being. Okay, it's not that bad... but today it felt like it. Public Speaking classes should not be THAT boring. I mean, when I signed up I KNEW they were gonna be boring, but this is a whole different level altogether! It's like expecting to see a turtle and finding out that it was actually Gamera (heh, if you got that congratulations! You're at least 10% geek)! Needless to say, I was ecstatic to be free with the rest of the weekend ahead of me! But it seems that some higher power decided to test my worthiness of the weekend before allowing me to go free: a friend asked a favour of me. *Sigh* I do not understand why people believe that I'm nice enough to go around helping them. If only my apathetic nature were reflected on my face I would be a whole lot happier. Probably.
Anyway, said friend asks me to waste time with him while he gets his car serviced. I wanted nothing more than to go home and continue reading Norwegian Wood (yes, I have a penchant for reading "chick literature"...deal with it). But I said yes. And I am glad that I did for I found the Holy Grail! Well, a Holy Grail for me anyway. It's not the real Holy Grail. Heck, it's not even a cup or anything. What it was was this: the Star Wars Trilogy DVD boxed set, digitally mastered to ensure that fanboys will never think of wimmen again. The DVD guy knew that I had a penchant for buying movies in bulk and thought that I would like this. And he was absolutely right.
On the cover is a 3/4 closeup view of Darth Vader with "Star Wars Trilogy" embossed in the corner. I've never seen anything more beautiful.
After I drop off my friend, Far, off I decide to head home immediately. I was so excited at the time that I forgot that my house doesn't even have a DVD player meaning that it was pointless for me to rush back anyway. ^_^. Ah well. Anyway, on the way home there was a horrendous traffic jam caused by an accident involving THREE cars. The one in the middle was pretty much totalled and the owner was on the side of the road looking pretty disheveled and teary eyed. And everybody had to be rubbernecking simply because it is Malaysian custom...so I joined in. I almost felt like giving her the boxed-set just to make her feel better. She needed it more than me. But my inner geek revolted against the idea like a madman. So I just drove on and never turned back. It seems like I just can't go against my true nature....
