Ah, family...

I've always had a feeling that I had more family than a sane person is entitled to. I've also had this niggling suspicion that I'm not a very good example of a "loving, family oriented malay". But to have both suspicions confirmed in a single conversation is a bit much. To wit: my sister and I were sitting in the living room the other day. She was addressing raya cards to various extended family members and I was sitting in front of the TV pretending to be an ornamental doorstop when she says:

Sister: Hey, what's the name of Kak Che's fourth son?
Rumoku: Hang on, lemme think...

After several minutes...

Rumoku: Wait, does she have a fourth son?
Sister:.... Oooooooookay. We'll skip that for now. What's the name of Mok Nik Mah's youngest child?
Rumoku: Erm...adik Ida?
Sister: No, the one after her.
Rumoku: Holy crikey! They had another one?! When did that happen?
Sister: .... About 5 years ago.... You visited them shortly after that...
Rumoku:...
Sister:...

Yep. I'm really looking forward to going off to Kelantan and meeting all of those people I don't know now. Yippee. But I've got it all planned, see? I'll follow my brother back and let HIM do all the talking. They'll never suspect that I know nothing! I'll just be in the background smiling and eating pie like I always do! Mwaahahhahaahahhaha! I'm a genius!

Rumoku out!
