Buttee boy on the loose?...

I'm sure that if you are Malaysian, living in Malaysia or have a running interest in the state of affairs in Malaysia, this news should not come as a surprise to you at all: Anwar Ibrahim, former Deputy Prime Minister, is being released from prison today. I personally think that it's a good thing. I have no idea whether he is guilty of what he is said to have done, but I do believe that he went to jail on based on some quite flimsy testimonials. Even though I followed the trials that led to his incarceration with a general disinterest, it still struck me as rather odd that they would go through with the charges of sodomy since the witness' testimonials were somewhat inconsistent. So I'm rather glad that that particular judgement has been overturned for no other reason than that it did not reflect well on our justice system. I do not support Anwar Ibrahim...but I do not believe in his incarceration either.

My sister says that it's just a big conspiracy, that they freed him so that he can retake the political reigns. That they freed him because they need a charismatic leader in Malaysia once more. Who knows? I've heard some crazier theories....

But the main question remains...is he really a buttee boy?

Rumoku out!
