Mission successful?

Whoa, it's been a hectic week. Or was it two? I forget. Anyway, between my internet connection going kattywampas, the usual bouts of laziness and sudden forced manic industry, I have been unable to update my poor little blog. Kinda sad, really. So what has Rumoku been up to since we last heard from him? Out discovering new species of rabid caterpillars? Discovering a cure for the curse of the Babel? Modelling for Calvin Klein jeans?
No. Rumoku has spent the last week letting his life spin out of control (again). Nothing new, really. The toll of taking 10 credit hours in the span of 5 weeks is finally getting to me. Not that I'm not on top of things. I am. But I'm starting to feel a little overwhelmed. I mean, I have all of these great plans on how to solve my problems ...but as soon as I feel like setting that plan into motion, I start thinking of something better. Right now I have a brilliant idea for my East Pacific Rim Societies creative project.... But the idea keeps morphing the more I think about it. I'm torn. Ho hum...nothing new.
Also, last...erm, friday(?...was it only last friday? It seemed longer) my family and I celebrated my parents' birthdays (we decided to lump them together). I had already given my mom her present the week before (since my dad wasn't around and wouldn't be for the rest of the week) so all that remained was to throw another party for my dad and mom. Great plan? Hardly. I suspect that they already knew about the whole "surprise" plan before we even set out from the house. Strike one (but on the bright side, I did get to satisfy my craving for japanese food. We ate at the Zipangu in the Shangrila Hotel. The food was pretty good too!). Then when we finally got around to giving the presents I suspect that my father knew what I got him. How couldn't he? The present was wrapped in "Kinokuniya Books" specialty wrapping paper (you know, the kind that had "Kinokuniya Books" plastered all over it). Since I was in a hurry, I bought the present in a rush and had the store wrap it for me (since I somehow have a gift for messing up gift wrapping). In the rush, I failed to notice that the wrapping would give away the gift it was SUPPOSED to hide. Go figure. Strike two (incidently, I got my Dad the brilliant "Da Vinci Code". If you haven't read it, please do. It's worth the read and it's easier to get into than "Holy Grail, Holy Blood". Those of you that have read either one (or preferably both) would know what I'm talking about). While by no means was my gift a flop, I felt kinda foolish giving something so obvious. My dad seemed to like it a lot though, so it wasn't a total failure. I think. Maybe he was just trying to be nice...and of course, he has that poker face that is impossible to read.
Then the night ended and my parents asked me if I would be staying over. I told them that I had projects to finish before Monday and couldn't spare a night. Their look of disappointment told me that I may have just answered the wrong way. Strike Three. Ack. Anyway, now with all the juggling I'm already doing, I now hafta worry if I had somehow hurt my parents' feelings. I'll tell you one thing, though. I'm glad I'm not playing baseball...ok, that was stupid, but you should have seen that one coming.

Baseball. Ha ha...I'm such a wit.
